3LPE (three-layer polyethylene) steel pipe anti-corrosion material is the mainstream anti-corrosion technology for underground pipelines. It consists of three layers: fused epoxy powder (FBE), adhesive (AD), and polyethylene (PE). It combines the high adhesion of epoxy with the high mechanical strength of PE, and has the advantages of corrosion resistance, low water absorption rate, and long service life. It is widely used in oil, natural gas, and water transmission pipelines.

Base layer: Epoxy powder

 

Material: fused epoxy powder (FBE)

Type: Internal FBE powder

External FBE powder

Thickness: Ordinary grade ≥ 80μm; Reinforced grade 100–400μm

Function: It forms chemical bonds with the surface of the steel pipe and has extremely strong adhesion.

Middle layer: Adhesive(AD)

 

Material: Copolymers such as maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (MAH-g-PE)

Thickness: 170–250 μm

Function: Connecting the previous and following parts: The polar end reacts with FBE to form a chemical bond, while the non-polar end is compatible with PE.

Eliminating interlayer gaps to ensure no peeling or layering at high temperatures.

Outer layer: High-density polyethylene (HDPE)

 

Material: High-density polyethylene (HDPE), containing 2.5% ± 0.5% carbon black (anti-aging)

Thickness: Ordinary grade 1.8–2.0mm; reinforced grade 2.2–2.4mm; super-reinforced grade 2.9–3.7mm

Function: Provide extremely strong mechanical protection: resistant to impact, wear-resistant, resistant to soil stress, and resistant to construction damage

Prevent water vapor penetration and isolate corrosive media

Surface pre-treatment of steel pipes

• Preheating: Heating the steel pipes to 220–240℃
• Base layer FBE: Electrostatic spraying, fusion curing
• Intermediate adhesive: Extrusion coating
• Outer layer HDPE: Extrusion winding / Round mold coating, cooling and shaping
